Preparing For Your First Brazilian Wax

Posted on

The main advantage of a bikini wax is that it removes all or most of the hair in your pubic area, allowing you to feel smooth all over for several weeks and comfortably wear modern swimsuits and underwear. If you are planning on getting your first Brazilian wax, read on for two FAQs on the process to get you better prepared and help you get a good outcome.

How do I prepare?

Prior to getting a Brazilian wax, you may want to ensure your hair grows for about two weeks or so, as this will allow for enough length for the hair to adhere correctly to the wax. Next, you should gently exfoliate the night before the wax so as to remove dead skin buildup around the hair follicles, which can make the hair removal process easier and less painful.

On the morning of the bikini wax, it would help to take a warm bath so as to soften your skin, allowing for easier hair removal. Once at the waxing table, take a few deep breaths to help relax your muscles so as to make the waxing process less uncomfortable.

Will I be uncomfortable after my wax?

For a first-timer, a little bit of discomfort is to be expected during and after the wax, especially if you have extremely coarse hair or sensitive skin. Typically, first-time clients experience a bit of soreness for about a day or so, after which the pain or discomfort fades away.

To ensure that you aren't overly uncomfortable after your first wax, avoid using numbing creams/sprays prior to your wax, as they often affect how the wax adheres to your hair, making removal more difficult. Additionally, numbing creams can cause an allergic reaction in your sensitive pubic area, making you feel extremely itchy after the hair removal process.

If you have very sensitive skin, you can opt to take a couple of painkillers prior to your wax so as to reduce any potential pain. Additionally, avoid wearing tight jeans or engaging in activities that would cause a lot of friction in your pubic area after your wax so as to minimize the discomfort.

The good news is that every wax after the first one usually gets easier, as the pubic follicle gets weaker. To ensure a more pleasant waxing experience in your next visit to the spa or salon, resist the urge to shave between Brazilian waxing Audra's Image & Wellness Day Spa wax sessions, as this chafes the skin and creates coarser hair.
